Upcoming Oboe Events ~ Come Say Hello!

The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music is hosting an oboe day – Play the Loree Day – on Sunday, February 5th.  It will feature masterclasses instructed by Dr. Mark Ostoich of CCM, and Dwight Parry, Principal of the Cincinnati Symphony and fellow CCM and Northern Kentucky teacher.  I will be attending and also be performing the Sarabande in one of the masterclasses.  Here is the link.  This event is great in that it presents 3 hours of masterclasses; typically half as much is accomplished at most day intensives.  There will also be the typical many vendors, as well as Carlos Coelho, should you want to try a new Loree or have yours checked.  Cost is $15 to audit, $25 to play.  Hope to see you there…

On February 19th, Bowling Green State University will host their Double Reed day with bassoonists also getting some love.  BGSU’s day will feature masterclasses and also a solo competition.  Among the guests will be Erin Hannigan, Principal of the Dallas Symphony.  Ms. Hannigan received her coveted performance certificate from Eastman School, where she studied with Richard Killmer.  Here is the link.
